Cryptocurrency exchange dYdX refuses to serve Tornado Cash users
Cryptocurrency exchange dYdX has announced that it will not provide services to Tornado Cash users, a decision made after the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the cryptocurrency mixing service.
According to dYdX representatives, the exchange has blocked accounts with assets previously linked to Tornado Cash. However, it was not without mistakes — dYdX representatives accidentally blocked some customers who claim that they have never interacted with the cryptocurrency mixer and did not know the origin of the assets that were transferred to them.
«We have made adjustments to our account compliance policy. We will continue to make efforts to limit unlawful blocking and monitor this issue in the future,» the exchange representatives said.
As a reminder, a few days ago, the United States imposed sanctions prohibiting American citizens and businesses from using Tornado Cash services — the service was accused of laundering stolen cryptocurrencies.
In addition, API and node infrastructure providers, which are considered the backbone of the Ethereum and Web3 ecosystems, are blocking remote procedure call (RPC) requests to Tornado Cash. The move to block RPC requests prevents anyone using Alchemy or Infura in the background from accessing Tornado Cash.
