Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has learned the name of the hacker who stole $ 600 million from FTX

12:33 pm, November 13, 2022

Nick Percoco, Chief Security Officer of the American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, announced that they have learned the name of the «hacker» who withdrew an estimated $ 600 million from the bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

As members of the cryptocurrency community had assumed, one of the company’s employees was behind the withdrawal of funds — Kraken confirmed this information without naming a specific name. However, they know this name because the fraudster had previously passed the KYC procedure on the platform and, accordingly, left personal data about himself. Crypto enthusiasts note that the hack itself was carried out with many silly mistakes that a real hacker would never make.

«Kraken has spoken to law enforcement about several accounts belonging to representatives of the bankrupt FTX Group, Alameda Research, and their executives. These accounts have been frozen to protect creditors. The assets of other Kraken clients are available. Kraken maintains full reserves,» the exchange’s representatives said on their official Twitter account.

As a reminder, the fall of FTX led to the need to Binance-pidtverdyla-svoyi-krypto-rezervy/">confirm its resources. The head of Binance believes that the leaders of Crypto.com and Gate. io could have become involved in a conspiracy to prove solvency.
