Cryptocurrency platform returns about $ 20 million out of 190 stolen by hackers
The developers of the Nomad platform have created a cryptocurrency wallet to recover lost funds — so far, they have managed to get back about $ 20 million of the 190 stolen by hackers.
According to Nomad representatives, the white hackers and their researcher friends have recovered a ninth of the lost funds. Nomad hopes that this will help restore access to most of the assets, such as wrapped BTC and ETH, USDC and Dai stablecoins, tokens of the Frax, GeroWallet, and Card Starter projects.
A few days ago, cryptocurrency hackers hacked the Nomad Bridge token exchange and stole $ 190,000,000 (almost all of the project’s liquidity), leaving only $ 651. As it became known, the Nomad Bridge exploit differs from many similar cyberattacks: funds were sent through the bridge to hundreds of cryptocurrency wallets.
Interestingly, Nomad Bridge developers were blamed for the hacker attack, as they knew about the vulnerability of the smart contract in early June, as it was covered in a report by security experts Quantstamp. However, the Nomad team did not react to the problem seriously and did not solve it.
