Coinbase, an American cryptocurrency exchange, conducted a study of the interest in cryptocurrencies among New Yorkers. It turned out that 19% of local residents have digital assets.

According to the researchers, users' interest in digital assets and Web3 projects is growing rapidly in New York. This can be seen in the number of companies working with blockchain — 692 such firms are registered in New York State, and the number of founders and co-founders is more than 800. Interestingly, 52% of the local Fortune 100 have participated in Web3 and blockchain initiatives since 2020.

«New Yorkers are optimistic about the opportunities and prospects of cryptocurrencies. Every third respondent said that cryptocurrencies make the financial system more honest and transparent. In addition, respondents believe that investing in digital assets is a very promising type of investment ,» Coinbase analysts said.

In mid-July, it became known that New York City Mayor Eric Adams owns cryptocurrencies, but he did not disclose this in his financial report submitted to the Conflict of Interest Board. Since taking office, Adams has repeatedly shown his support for the crypto community. Back in November 2021, the official said he planned to receive his first three salaries as mayor in bitcoin.
