Cryptocurrency experts name the most cryptocurrency-friendly city

7:06 pm, February 6, 2023

According to Recap analysts, in 2022, London became the most loyal city to the crypto industry in the world. The researchers made their choice based on the following key indicators

  • availability of cryptocurrency ATMs
  • transparent taxation of digital assets
  • jobs in the crypto sector
  • wide public access to the crypto ecosystem
  • creation of preconditions for greater crypto awareness in society.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, recently stated that he is committed to «ensuring that the UK financial services industry is always at the forefront of technology and innovation.» Obviously, the head of the British government wants to continue the work started by the Ministry of Finance during the short-lived premiership of Liz Truss.

According to Recap, Dubai and New York are also among the top three crypto-friendly megacities. However, Hong Kong, which in 2022 was positioned as the most cryptocurrency-friendly region in the world, dropped to seventh place.

The UK is currently working hard to launch a state-owned stablecoin, with the government aiming to have it ready by 2030.

Interestingly, the country is recognized as the environment with the highest number of cryptocurrency fraudsters in the world. Attackers choose the United Kingdom because the UK does not have a sufficiently developed legal framework that can resist them.

However, the government has already taken the problem into account. As it became known in early January, the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) intends to form a special team to investigate crimes related to digital assets.
