MetaMask cryptocurrency wallets will be able to integrate any blockchain

The developers of the cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask have announced planned updates to the product. In the future, MetaMask will be able to support any blockchain and integrate tokens thanks to the Snaps tool, which allows expanding the wallet’s functionality for free.

In this way, the wallet developers hope to facilitate the scaling and mass adoption of Web3 technologies. MetaMask representatives provided detailed information about the update at StarkWare Sessions in Tel Aviv (Israel). Senior Product Manager of Metamask Snaps said that MetaMask Snaps has already helped to increase the functionality of token exchange in the browser extension, so the developers are working on its further improvement.

At the moment, MetaMask Snaps runs in an isolated environment and allows you to choose different wallet settings:

• adding new APIs to MetaMask;
• adding different protocols;
• changing existing options through internal APIs;
• setting restrictions for an isolated environment.

In addition to expanding the Snaps features, MetaMask developers have added phishing detection, balance display, token prices, and incoming transaction tracking. It is worth noting that these features are optional. The new features can be found in the security and privacy settings of the MetaMask browser. You can also enable them when setting up a crypto wallet for the first time or change them for existing wallets.
