Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency tokens were sold out in 12 hours

Former US President Donald Trump has released his own NFT collection, the Donald Trump Digital Trading Card, which tells the story of his life and career. The non-fungible tokens were launched on the Polygon blockchain, and to encourage his fans to buy NFTs, Trump even published a video in the form of a superhero.

At the time of writing, all 45,000 NFTs ($ 99 each) have already been sold out. According to Dune Analytics, 12,874 wallets took part in the auction. More than 14% of addresses interacted with NFTs on the Polygon blockchain for the first time, and 255 wallets purchased more than 45 non-fungible tokens.

As the representatives of the Donald Trump Digital Trading Card emphasized, the purchase of NFTs from the 45th President of the United States is intended for collecting and personal enjoyment, not for investment purposes. Each NFT holder is automatically entered into the draw and has a chance to win one of thousands of different prizes. The main gifts include a personal chat with Trump on Zoom or an hour of golf together.

Members of the cryptocurrency community called Trump’s NFT collection part of a well-thought-out strategy ahead of the 2024 US presidential election. The politician hopes to attract the attention of Web-3 and cryptocurrency supporters by demonstrating his loyalty to technological innovations.

It should be reminded that Donald Trump’s image has already appeared in NFTs: in early July, Mike Winkelman (Beeple), a well-known NFT artist in the crypto world, tweeted his NFT work mocking Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The NFT, titled «The American Experiment,» shows parts of the faces of the current and former US presidents in a capsule in which an experiment is being conducted.
