Cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask starts collecting user IP addresses

2:39 pm, November 24, 2022

ConsenSys, the developer of the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet, has updated its privacy policy. From now on, if users use RPC (remote procedure call) from Infura provider, MetaMask will collect IP addresses during transactions.

RPC from Infura is set in MetaMask settings by default, but this can be changed by choosing Alchemy. Many users are outraged by this innovation and are already looking for an alternative to MetaMask. One of them is the Trust Wallet cryptocurrency wallet. Recently, the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance has expanded its integration with Trust Wallet. From now on, customers can make transfers from the Binance Funding wallet to the Trust Wallet without paying a fee for withdrawing funds or scanning/entering the wallet address.

As for MetaMask, in early November, the wallet’s developers announced the introduction of a new feature in the decentralized Portfolio application. Users can transfer cryptocurrencies from one blockchain to another with a minimum of time. The bridge aggregator for cross-chain transactions is called Bridges and is currently available only in beta. The aggregator supports crypto transactions of up to 10,000 tokens in ETH, wrapped ETH, and stablecoins, and gas can be paid for in four ecosystems (Ethereum, Avalanche, BSC, and Polygon).
