Cryptocurrency exchanger accidentally transferred $ 10.5 million to a user instead of $ 100

2:25 pm, August 30, 2022

Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com made a mistake more than seven months ago and accidentally transferred $ 10.5 million to a woman from Melbourne instead of $ 100. The error was discovered during an audit at the end of 2021.

The cryptocurrency platform filed a lawsuit to recover the lost funds. During the hearing, a Crypto.com representative explained the transfer error by saying that an employee had entered an account number in the payment field instead of the $ 100 amount. Nevertheless, the woman who received the money had already spent it on a luxury mansion with a gym and a movie theater with her sister. The judge ruled to sell the property and return the remaining funds to Crypto.com.

Thanks to Crypto.com, Australians can buy gasoline and donuts for cryptocurrency at gas stations. The service stations will allow Crypto.com users to scan a QR code on the DataMesh payment terminal, which will connect with their exchange wallet and convert the cryptocurrency into Australian dollars.
