Cryptocurrency token XRP can grow 1200 times — it was predicted in the Simpsons

7:22 pm, September 28, 2022

Members of the cryptocurrency community drew attention to one of the episodes of the American animated series The Simpsons — the writers predicted that the XRP cryptocurrency owned by Ripple would grow 1200 times.

In one of the episodes, Bart Simpson wrote the following phrase on the blackboard: «XRP to hit $ 589 by EDY». Some Simpsons fans interpret this as the possible value of the XRP token, as the series' writers have repeatedly predicted historical events. Thus, on March 2, 1997, a place called the Crypto Barn appeared in The Simpsons, with the inscriptions «a place for codes» and «secret code». It is worth noting that the first cryptocurrency, bitcoin, was created in 2008, so it is not for nothing that some call the Simpsons prophets.

As for XRP, at the time of writing, the token is trading at $ 0.4206, down 11.23% overnight, which is still far from Bart Simpson’s predictions. Until recently, XRP was the only digital asset that was actively growing. On September 23, it became known that the token grew by 40% in 2 days. The active growth and sharp fall of XRP is associated with the litigation between the SEC and Ripple Labs. on September 18, Ripple representatives filed a motion to dismiss the case. In the 2020 lawsuit, the SEC accused Ripple and its top executives of selling unregistered securities.

The regulator stated that the native token of the XRP platform is an investment contract — a special class of securities. However, Ripple’s lawyers argue that the company has never entered into investment contracts with buyers of the digital asset.
