EU cryptocurrency supported by the Queen of the Netherlands
Queen Maxima Zorregieta Cerruti of the Netherlands said she was inspired by the European Central Bank’s work on the development of the digital euro.
«The public sector has a responsibility to ensure that the financial system is open and inclusive, so that it better responds to the needs of all groups of people. So let’s imagine this better future and create a digital euro that works for all Europeans ,» the Queen said at the European Commission’s online conference «Towards a legislative framework for a digital euro for citizens and businesses» on November 7.
The Queen of the Netherlands believes that the digital euro will help reduce the cost of money transfers in the future. However, according to the monarch, this will require political reforms and guarantees «to overcome difficulties and risks.»
