Tickets for a scandalous movie screening are sold in the form of cryptocurrency tokens

10:47 pm, August 10, 2022

The scandalous erotic thriller 18&Over featuring celebrities including Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson has been released in Hollywood, and to watch the movie, you need to purchase an NFT ticket.

As it has become known, the creators of the movie 18&Over did not want to cooperate with any of the streaming platforms such as Netflix, so they decided to use blockchain technologies. Users will be able to watch the movie by purchasing an NFT ticket worth $ 263. It is worth noting that this is many times more expensive than going to the cinema or an annual subscription to one of the streaming platforms, so the question of the popularity of such tickets remains open.

Interestingly, the holders of non-fungible tokens, of which only 10,000 will be issued, will have access to watch 18&Over for only two months. However, fans who purchase virtual tickets have been promised bonuses: communication with the filmmakers and an invitation to the film’s premiere in Los Angeles.

Perhaps, if the filmmakers had turned to California producers Ben Rosenblatt and Micho Rutare, who have developed a project to finance independent films, the shooting of 18&Over would have been cheaper and the NFT tickets would have been cheaper, too. As for crypto-financing of cinema, using the FLIX token, movie lovers and film production participants have the opportunity to sponsor films, as the commission to be paid as part of the transaction replenishes the film fund by 75%. This is how the film Tales from the trap, a story about the rap industry and the wars between drug gangs, was financed.
