Cryptocurrency market leaders demand Twitter to solve the problem of bots
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse called on Twitter to solve the problem of bots, as Garlinghouse spoke about dozens of fake accounts impersonating Ripple’s CEO and stealing cryptocurrency from users.
«I can’t believe I’m still doing this. @TwitterSupport, it’s shameful that you can’t tell the difference between a real profile and a fake one. Fraudulent accounts that have been verified are replying to a lot of crypto tweets pretending to be me, Vitalik Buterin, or Changpeng Zhao,» Garlinghouse wrote in his tweet.
I can’t believe I’m still doing this — @TwitterSupport, it’s embarrassing when you can’t distinguish a real profile from a fake one. Verified scam accounts are now replying to tons of crypto tweets with my image, @VitalikButerin's or @CZ_Binance's. (watch it happen to this tweet) pic.twitter.com/wx9LzR75YR

A few days ago, Vitalik Buterin, the father of Ethereum, also complained about the problem of bots, according to him, many users of the social network are becoming victims of crypto fraudsters and this requires the intervention of a «third party.» As an example, he cited clones of his own account that successfully confirmed that they were Vitalik Buterin and now offer fraudulent services.
As for Brad Garlinghouse, fraudsters use a familiar scheme: they hack the page of a well-known person or company, repost Garlinghouse’s posts (for credibility), and advertise a fake giveaway of the cryptocurrency XRP, which requires clicking on a phishing link. By clicking on the link, users risk losing their cryptocurrency savings.
