To listen to NFTs, users need to connect their MetaMask wallet to a player in Brave, Chrome, or Firefox. Music in NFT format will be played as a regular mp3 file.
«Winamp is all about inclusivity and innovation, so we’re proud to introduce the first standalone player that plays NFT audio like any other format. Winamp played a pivotal role in the rise of digital music when the mp3 format revolutionized the way we listen to audio. We will continue to support innovation as more and more musicians explore Web3 and its potential,» said Winamp CEO Alexander Sabondjian.
The player’s developers plan to further develop support for Web3 and digital tokens in the future. Winamp intends to create a special service where users will be able to get direct access to the works of their favorite musicians. The service is expected to be launched early next year.
Recently, we told you that Opera browser will receive the NFT creation function. The new browser option will be intended for those who do not have the funds to pay the fees charged when creating digital tokens. The project should be of interest to industry newcomers exploring the crypto space and Web3 capabilities.
