Meta controls 90% of the virtual reality helmet market

The virtual reality market is currently small, and there is some uncertainty about how big it could become in the future (although there are opinions on how big).

But the latest data from analyst firm IDC shows that global virtual reality headset shipments grew by 241.6% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of last year.

Meta accounts for 90% of the VR headset market — Quest 2. VR headset orders are expected to grow in 2022 and reach 13.9 million units, which is 26.6% more than last year.

Currently, Meta’s leadership is achieved due to the fact that Apple has not yet entered the game. The company is expected to start selling its own headset early next year.
