Muse hit the top of the music charts with NFT album
Muse became the first UK rock band to sell its music album in the NFT format. In the first week alone, 51,500 digital copies were sold.
The new album, which was released on August 26, was presented on the Serenade platform, which is powered by the Polygon blockchain. It should be noted that the NFT edition of the album «Will of the People» was limited to only 1000 copies worldwide. Muse’s ninth studio album became the first music album to chart in the UK and Australia to be released in the NFT format.
«Just as we welcome music on vinyl, CD and even cassette, we also welcome innovative NFT albums,» said Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the UK Official Music Charts.
Interestingly, the Serenade platform does not require users to create a cryptocurrency wallet to purchase Muse’s NFT album — members of the crypto community can use debit and credit cards to buy non-fungible tokens on the site. Users can also pay for the NFT purchase using their existing Bitcoin or Ethereum wallets.
