Sam Bankman-Fried filed a class action lawsuit against Sam Bankman-Fried
American cryptocurrency investors have filed a lawsuit against FTX founder Сем Бенкман-Фрід" href="https://noworries.media/biography/sem-benkman-frid/" data-bio-id="3697">Sam Bankman-Fried, as well as several celebrities who promoted the crypto exchange, including NFL quarterback Tom Brady and comedian Larry David. The list of defendants also includes tennis player Naomi Osaka and the Golden State Warriors professional basketball team. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Edwin Harrison, an Oklahoma resident who held a profitable account with FTX. Harrison claims to have been the victim of a «Ponzi scheme».
The investors claim that a group of celebrities led by Fried used deceptive methods to sell FTX Token (FTT). The lawsuit also alleges that the FTX profitable accounts were unregistered securities and were illegally sold in the United States. In total, the plaintiffs suffered losses of $ 11 billion.
Investors are demanding compensation for lost funds from Bankman-Fried and 11 celebrities who advertised FTX. For example, Larry David appeared in an FTX commercial that aired during the 2022 Super Bowl, where he urged people to «discover cryptocurrencies.»
This is not the first high-profile case involving American celebrities who risk their reputations to make money by advertising cryptocurrency assets. Earlier, we talked about the litigation between American model Kim Kardashian, boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The celebrities were accused of promoting the EMAX token and intending to sell it when the cryptocurrency rate rises. The parties to the conflict are currently awaiting a final court decision.
