Rally to be held in defense of arrested Tornado Cash developer

Members of the cryptocurrency community and human rights activists will hold a rally in defense of the arrested Tornado Cash developer Alexei Pertsev, as users believe that Pertsev has become a victim of US political repression.

As it has become known, the rally to support the Tornado Cash developer will take place on August 20 in the center of Amsterdam, where the arrested Alexey Pertsev is being held. Several thousand people have expressed a desire to support the programmer, who consider it a matter of honor to draw the world’s attention to this situation. In social networks, users express their support for the developer and hope to influence the situation.

As a reminder, on August 8, the United States imposed sanctions prohibiting American citizens and businesses from using Tornado Cash services. A few days later, Alexey Pertsev was detained in Amsterdam and immediately taken to court, facing charges of laundering stolen cryptocurrencies and collaboration with criminals.

Representatives of the Coin Center legal center also disagree with the decision of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department, who believe that OFAC violated the constitutional right of Americans and «crossed all borders.»
