South Korea’s biggest cryptocurrency fraudster is deported from the country
According to South Korean media, the passport of the cryptocurrency fraudster and Terraform Labs CEO will be revoked on October 19. In this case, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the prosecutor’s office of the country where the fraudster is hiding will consider Kwon an illegal resident of the country and he will face deportation to South Korea.
According to international law, citizens with revoked identity cards must be immediately deported to their country of origin. Law enforcement officials believed that Kwon was with his family in Singapore, but he was not there. There is speculation that this is Do Kwon's passport, which, if revoked, would prevent the fraudster from traveling abroad.
No one knows for sure where Do Kwon is now. The CEO of Terraform Labs boasts on Twitter that he is «making minimal efforts to hide.» Last week, South Korean authorities froze another 56 billion won (approximately $ 39.4 million) related to Do Kwon. Earlier in September, it was reported that law enforcement officials froze Kwon’s bitcoins worth more than $ 65 million. However, the co-founder of the cryptocurrency LUNA denied this information.
