The largest cryptocurrency wallet manufacturer will add anonymous transactions feature instead of the closed wallet Tornado Cash
Hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor has announced a partnership with the Wasabi Wallet team. The goal of the cooperation is to integrate a tool for mixing bitcoin transactions into devices. The technology groups transactions randomly, which allows to hide the origin of funds. The developers have promised that the new option will be available in 2023.

Karo Zagorus, Head of Public Relations at zkSNACKs (the company that developed Wasabi Wallet), said that negotiations with Trezor began in 2019. According to him, the result was a «phenomenal achievement.» In November 2020, the developers of the bitcoin wallet aimed at protecting anonymity announced the release of a new version of Wasabi Wallet. It should make it easier to conduct confidential transactions using CoinJoin technology. The Wasabi team added that the work on anonymization technology is a response to increased government oversight, as was the case with the story of the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash.
As a reminder, on August 8, OFAC added the website of the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, as well as 39 Ethereum and 6 USDC addresses associated with it, to the sanctions list. The agency banned Americans and state-owned enterprises from using the platform’s services. After that, key blockchain infrastructure services joined the list of organizations that block access to the cryptocurrency mixer. However, this did not prevent a huge number of organizations from defending Alexey Pertsev. It should be added that in addition to suspicion of money laundering, the crypto mixer developer is accused of collaborating with the Russian FSB.
