A country where half of the population owns cryptocurrency has been named

10:37 am, April 4, 2023

Independent Reserve researchers have found that more than 40% of Singaporeans have already invested in cryptocurrencies. The survey was conducted among 1500 residents of the country aged 18 and older.

According to the results, 43% of respondents stated that they own digital assets. At the same time, 91% of citizens said they understood what cryptocurrency was, and the most knowledgeable group was respondents aged 26−35. More than 75% said that they own two or more cryptocurrencies to diversify their savings. At the same time, more than half of the respondents named bitcoin as the main currency in which they keep their assets.

Despite the crisis in the crypto industry that investors faced last year, more than 70% of respondents said they would advise their loved ones to invest in cryptocurrencies. 59% of respondents believe that regulation is the most important problem with digital assets. In their opinion, a transparent regulatory framework around virtual coins would make cryptocurrencies more attractive for investment. At the same time, 50% of respondents are confident that cryptocurrencies will gain worldwide recognition despite legal difficulties.

According to statistics, men are the most likely to invest in cryptocurrencies — 48%. However, Independent Reserve noticed an interesting feature: while the number of male investors decreased by 1% compared to 2022, the number of female investors increased from 7% to 37%.

Singaporeans earning more than $ 5200 per month are the most active cryptocurrency investors. Citizens with a salary of $ 3700 are less active in investing, with 65% of them being analyzed.

It should be added that El Salvador is still the most loyal country to cryptocurrencies. Since November 18, 2022, the state has been using the DCA strategy — El Salvador buys 1 bitcoin every day. The recognition of BTC as a legal tender in El Salvador has contributed to the increase in tourist traffic to this resort country, which, according to World Population Review, is considered one of the poorest in the world.
