The country most interested in the transition of Ethereum to the «green» blockchain is named

According to a new study by CoinGecko, Singapore has become the most interested in the Ethereum update, with its residents most actively searching for information about The Merge from July 1 to September 4.

The study was based on Google Trends data, and Singaporeans most often searched for «Ethereum Merge,» «ETH Classic,» and «Ethereum.» Two countries ranked second: Switzerland, where the most popular searches were «ETH «and «ETH Merge», and Canada with «ETH PoW».

Thanks to The Merge, Google searches for ethereum currently account for 16% of the total number of searches in the cryptocurrency industry. It is interesting that after the long-awaited update, the ETH rate dropped on the contrary — most traders chose to take profit after The Merge instead of increasing their cryptocurrency wallets. As a result, the price of ethereum dropped by 11.11% in 24 hours yesterday, reaching $ 1295. At the time of writing, ETH is trading at $ 1357, up 3.75%.

According to The Merge, the transition of ETN to the green blockchain will reduce electricity consumption by 0.2% globally. As explained by the father of Ethereum, the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm is faster, more energy efficient, and safer than Proof-of-Work. From now on, the entire Ethereum network will consume less energy than YouTube, gold mining, BTC POW, ETH PoW, Netflix, gaming, and PayPal.
