NFT projects from Solana switch to Ethereum and Polygon

11:18 am, December 27, 2022

According to the statements of major NFT projects, in 2023, they will switch from Solana to Ethereum and Polygon. Among those who decided to migrate: DeGods and y00ts.

Rumors that the 2 largest Solana projects would leave the SOL ecosystem have been circulating for several months, but only recently have project representatives confirmed this transition. Interestingly, DeGods' migration to Ethereum is welcomed by users, while y00ts' migration to Polygon is not.

«It's hard to accept, but it’s been difficult for us to develop on Solana at the speed we want to. If Ethereum is what’s going to help us grow, we have to make the switch ,» a DeGods representative told Twitter Spaces.

DeGods founder Frank III said that the details of the transition of NFT projects to Ethereum will be known later, when all the tests of the bridge in Ethereum are completed. According to him, the project’s decision to migrate is not related to criticism of the Solana ecosystem, but members of the cryptocurrency community do not believe this. It is believed that the projects are «fleeing» Solana because of the serious crisis that the blockchain faced after the FTX collapse.

Some analysts believe that the «Ethereum killer» will suffer the fate of EOS (the development of the cryptocurrency project has almost stopped at this time). Interestingly, EOS, like SOL, competed with ETH. Cryptocurrency holders were offered similar functionality, so the blockchain was perceived as a cheaper and more advanced version of Buterin's creation. In addition, EOS was criticized for not actually being a blockchain in the classical sense of the word. Similar problems have now affected Solana. At the moment, the number of developers working with Anatoly Yakovenko’s blockchain has dropped by 97%.
