NFTs were distributed to crypto tycoons at Trump’s dinner — one was sold for $ 16 thousand
At a recent gala dinner for TRUMP meme coin holders in Washington, D.C., attendees and registered guests received limited edition NFTs that are already selling for significant sums. Among these digital collectibles, the most expensive is currently a rare NFT called «Diamond Hands», one of which was sold for $ 16,000.
The event took place in May at Donald Trump National Golf Club and was open to 220 of the largest token holders. Those who only registered but could not attend the dinner also received NFTs. The cheapest series is Power to the Holders, which currently has a minimum price of 7.6 SOL (approximately $ 1,200). Participants of the event received the Gold Gala Dinner NFT (minimum price 48.15 SOL or about $ 7,700), and those who held the tokens throughout the event received exclusive Diamond Hands.
Despite the sales and considerable excitement, NFTs have no practical application, and representatives of TRUMP meme coin called them only «historical collectibles.» Some users have already joked that the owners of Diamond Hands should be invited to a golf game in Mar-a-Lago — the official TRUMP meme coin account replied that it would be great.
The event caused a significant response: more than 100 demonstrators protested near the golf club, and American politicians expressed concern about the possibility of buying political influence through meme coins. At the same time, such NFT sales emphasize new trends in the cryptocurrency world, where symbolic value often turns into real money.
