Donald Trump’s son-in-law may become the new head of Twitter
Elon Musk may soon start looking for a new head of Twitter. After Sunday’s poll, where almost 57% of respondents (equivalent to 10 million followers) voted in favor of the millionaire’s departure from the platform, there have been many speculations about who might succeed Musk.
on December 19, former U.S. intelligence officer Edward Snowden expressed his desire to become the new CEO of Twitter. The newly-minted citizen of the terrorist country Russia said he would not mind receiving a salary in bitcoins. However, Snowden’s current passport is likely to prevent him from getting the job.
Another resonant assumption concerns Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump. Kushner is friends with the Saudi royal family, one of Twitter’s largest investors. Prior to serving as a White House adviser under President Trump, Kushner worked for a family-owned real estate development company, and last year announced that he would leave politics to start an investment firm. Kushner previously owned the New York Observer weekly. He and Musk were seen together at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar during the World Cup final, and the rumors started from that moment.
Twitter immediately exploded with reactions and discussions: «@elonmusk was at the World Cup with Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, who received a $ 2 billion investment from a Saudi fund headed by the crown prince. Twitter’s second largest shareholder is the Prince of Saudi Arabia. Too many coincidences, isn’t it?» tweeted one of the platform’s users
«Pay attention to Elon Musk. If he appoints Jared Kushner as the new CEO of Twitter, it will be a miracle if he doesn’t lose another $ 44 billion. Freedom of speech is making Twitter alive again, don’t mess it up,» another Twitter user wrote.
It is not yet known whether the rumors are based on any common sense, but the media are already suggesting that, in addition to Kushner, former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, CTO Mike Schroepfer, Internet entrepreneur Jason Kalakanis, PayPal founder David Sachs, or Sriram Krishnan, an advertising product developer for Snap and Facebook, are also contenders for the Twitter CEO position.
