One of the most popular blockchain games in the world, Axie Infinity: Origins, has become available in the App Store for iPhone users in some countries. Following this news, the price of the Axie Infinity cryptocurrency (AXS) increased by 17%.

According to official information, the game is currently limited to users from a number of Latin American and Asian countries. The game can be downloaded in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Today, on May 17, after the news was published on the project’s blog, the value of the AXS token rose from $ 6.92 to $ 8.11. According to CoinGecko, the price of AXS is currently hovering around $ 7.59.

Axie Infinity: Origins is a strategy card game on the Ethereum blockchain from Sky Mavis. Players fight each other with the help of fantasy creatures called «axies». In the game, you can buy, create, and exchange new creatures. The developers' investors are: Binance, Animoca Brands, a16z, and other large companies.

In December 2022, a beta version of the Origins game with disabilities was launched in the Malaysian Google PlayStore as part of testing. According to the developers, the launch of the program in the App Store in South America and Asia was a similar testing of the product before entering the wider market.

As it became known, the iOS release of the game will allow using NFTs in the form of «axi». According to the company, this is the first time Apple has agreed to recognize NFT purchased outside its platform as suitable for use in the App Store.

In October 2022, the App Store introduced rules for programs that work with NFTs. According to the terms of the marketplace, companies can offer the creation (mining), sale, and purchase of NFTs in their applications, but all transactions must take place exclusively on the Apple platform, whose commission is 30% of all in-app sales.

As for Axie Infinity, in March last year, $ 625 million worth of cryptocurrencies (at the exchange rate at the time) was stolen from the gaming platform, namely from the Ronin blockchain bridge used by the project. This was the largest hack in the history of digital assets. According to the FBI, two hacker groups linked to the DPRK, the Lazarus Group and APT38, were behind the theft.
