Rating of the most expensive stolen NFT tokens published

Comparitech researchers have published a ranking of the most expensive stolen NFTs — the total value of non-fungible tokens stolen by hackers over 2 years is $ 86 million.

Here is the list of the top 10 most expensive NFT thefts:

• Animoca Brands' subsidiary, Lympo, lost 165.2 million LMT tokens as a result of a cyberattack on the company’s wallet. At the time of the theft, the total value of NFT was $ 18.7 million.
• The Farmers World game was hacked in November 2021 and lost more than $ 15.7 million.
• The developers of the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection lost $ 14 million worth of NFTs due to the hacking of the Instagram account of bored monkeys.
• The DragonSB Finance gaming project lost $ 10 million worth of NFTs as a result of a smart contract hack in April 2022.
• Thanks to a phishing attack on the OpenSea marketplace, the attackers managed to steal NFTs worth more than $ 3.4 million.
• The TopGoal project lost more than $ 4.8 million in NFT due to a hacker attack on a hot wallet.
• During the launch of The Shifters collection, the attackers stole the purchased NFTs from users, the total amount of losses: $ 2 million.
• Hacking the Discord channel of the Alethea AI project, hackers stole NFTs worth $ 1.8 million.
• The fraudsters stole 29 Moonbirds NFTs thanks to a malicious link clicked by users. Their value was estimated at $ 1.5 million at the time of the theft.
• The financial NFT platform Omni was attacked in July 2022. $ 1.43 million was stolen.

Despite the large number of thefts, there is hope that hackers will be taught a lesson. Recently, the largest NFT trading platform, OpenSea, announced that it intends to improve the mechanism for reviewing theft claims. OpenSea is also automating its threat detection system. The company emphasized that its policy was developed taking into account US laws, according to which the intentional authorization of the sale of stolen goods is punishable by criminal proceedings.
