Cryptocurrency market experts report that in the first half of August, the leading cryptocurrencies updated their local highs. At the end of the month, BTC fell by 13.88% and ETC by 7.33%.

Among the assets with a moderate market capitalization (from $ 200 million), Compound (cETH) and TON tokens were the best performers. It is worth noting that Toncoin showed growth amid a statement by Telegram founder Pavel Durov about the possible launch of a marketplace for accounts and other Web3 initiatives in the messenger.

The NFT sector saw a decline in trading volumes in August. Polygon and ImmutableX showed positive dynamics. The average price of the ImmutableX digital token increased from $ 10 to $ 50, and trading volumes grew from $ 5 million to $ 28 million.

Last month, the shares of Voyager, a cryptocurrency broker that is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, showed significant growth. However, the company’s value has fallen by more than 99% since the beginning of the year.

As a reminder, over the past day, bitcoin has set an anti-record for the first time since December 2020. The value of the flagship cryptocurrency fell by 5.5% - in just 24 hours, bitcoin dropped below $ 19,000. Currently, BTC is trading at $ 18,776.
