Minecraft developers' petition against NFT garners only 72 signatures worldwide

8:38 am, May 3, 2022

A petition by Minecraft creators calling on colleagues from other studios to carefully implement cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens in video games has proved to be extremely unpopular, Decrypt reports.

Earlier, Mojang employees called on developers to take responsibility and stop creating games that use NFT and PoW cryptocurrencies that harm the environment. In their opinion, NFTs change the very concept of video games and turn the game process into a profit drive.

Sebastian Borge, the co-author of The Sandbox metaverse, has a different opinion. He believes that in the coming years, every gaming company, from the largest to the smallest, will have products using cryptocurrencies and NFTs.

Mojang representatives do not give up and are confident that their position will receive great support from their colleagues in the future. For now, they will continue to popularize their vision of the future of the gaming industry on their own.
