According to the CBC, two teenagers in Canada managed to steal more than $ 4 million in cryptocurrencies by posing as employees of the Coinbase exchange.

The young criminals tricked a man into giving them $ 4.2 million in ethereum and bitcoin. The teenagers sent a letter to the victim’s email, pretending to be representatives of Coinbase security. The user opened the email and followed the malicious link. After performing a series of actions, the victim, without realizing it, granted access to his account on the exchange.

In addition to the stolen $ 4.2 million, the teenagers' cryptocurrency wallets contain cryptocurrency worth $ 13 million. It is not yet known how they got the digital assets, but Hamilton police are already investigating.

The criminals used part of the money to buy names on social media. Thus, one of them bought a rare nickname @zombie on Instagram, its cost has not yet been disclosed.

Users have been warned once again that hackers are constantly improving their skills, and as practice shows, even 17-year-olds can become them. It is worth improving skills in protecting personal and corporate gadgets, studying information about the latest technologies and artificial intelligence. Experts believe that awareness will protect people and help avoid undesirable consequences.
