After the announcement of the date of transition to the «green» blockchain, the Ethereum cryptocurrency grew by 13% per day

On Saturday (July 16), the price of Ethereum ($ETH) rose sharply after the preliminary date of the «merge» (the date when the network moves from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake) was announced.

According to TradingView, ETH-USD was trading at around $ 1075.76 on the Coinbase crypto exchange on July 14. Currently (i.e., as of 22:00 on July 16), ETH-USD is trading at around $ 1335, which is an increase of more than 26% since then (and an increase of 13.68% in the last 24 hours).

As a reminder, Ethereum’s transition to a PoS network is expected to reduce energy consumption by 99%.
