After Twitter’s transition to a decentralized platform, moderation will remain
Bluesky, a Twitter-backed project to develop an open and decentralized standard for social media, released its first code snippet on Wednesday.
The code, known as the Authenticated Data eXperiment (ADX), contains a software developer’s kit, as well as a server implementation and basic commands for what can be done on the social network, including creating posts and liking other people’s posts.
According to the Bluesky team, releasing the code at this stage is part of its commitment to working openly and sharing its progress. Therefore, they admit that they are still far from a full-fledged alternative to Twitter.
The developers also plan to keep Twitter’s moderation. «It's impossible to have a usable social network without moderation,» they said in their post. This may come as news to those who equate Elon Musk’s plans for maximum freedom of speech on Twitter with a zero-moderation policy.
