Polkadot will pay users to find cryptocurrency scammers
To improve the security of its ecosystem, the Polkadot team has launched the Anti-Scam Bounty program to combat cryptocurrency fraud. Everyone who participates in the initiative can receive a cash reward. During the program, members of the Polkadot community will search for fraudulent websites, fake social media profiles, phishing applications disguised as Polkadot, and protect Discord servers from hacker attacks.
The list of tasks includes the creation of training materials for users, as well as the development of a special Anti-Scam toolbar designed to protect against fraud in the Polkadot ecosystem. Each task is supervised by community members who interact with program participants and offer ideas for achieving results effectively. Currently, the program is managed by three mentors from the Polkadot professional community and two staff members from the Web3 Foundation.
Initiatives to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and improve data protection are launched by many cryptocurrency projects. For example, last year, after the Poly Network was hacked, the network’s creators announced a program to find faults in the network’s code, and spent $ 500,000 on the initiative itself.
As a reminder, in early November, cybersecurity experts found that hacking user passwords is the most popular method of hacker attacks — anyone can become a victim. According to the Microsoft Digital Defense Report 2022, about 1,000 cyberattacks occur every second in the world
