NFT representatives of the Bored Apes collection confirmed server hacking and theft of $ 360,000
Representatives of Yuga Labs have confirmed yesterday’s information that the Discord server of the popular NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) was hacked, resulting in the theft of 200 ETH ($ 360,000) worth of non-fungible tokens from users.
It turned out that the hackers hacked into the account of Bored Apes community manager Boris Wagner, and used the access to organize a phishing attack.
«We are still investigating, but if you are affected, please send us an email at [email protected],» the developers wrote on Twitter, adding that they never conduct unscheduled token issuance or distribution campaigns. Bored Apes co-founder Gordon Goner added: «Discord is not a good fit for the Web3 community. We need a better platform that puts user security first.»
This is not the first attack on BAYC’s Discord server this year. Moreover, the weekend has traditionally been a time of hacking — earlier on Sunday, the Twitter account of the most popular digital artist Beeple was hacked.
