Pseudo-founder of bitcoin wins 1 pound in court against blogger who exposed him
A UK court has ordered blogger Peter McCormack to pay compensation to the pseudo-founder of the flagship cryptocurrency Craig Wright in the amount of £1 — all because of Peter McCormack’s «false testimony».
As it became known, the self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto filed a lawsuit to protect his own honor back in 2019, when Wright demanded £100,000 in compensation for non-pecuniary damage and legal fees. However, the court called Craig Wright’s evidence false and emphasized that a symbolic amount would be enough to compensate the plaintiff for moral damages.
The court representatives recognized that Peter McCormack’s tweets «caused serious damage» to Craig Wright (so serious that it was estimated at £1). Wright claimed that after the blogger’s posts on Twitter, he was no longer invited to various scientific conferences on cryptocurrencies. However, McCormack provided evidence from the organizers of the events that confirmed the participation of the self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto in them and thus refuted Wright’s accusations.
Interestingly, the plaintiff, Craig Wright, promised to file lawsuits until he could prove his case and force his haters to stop «attacks aimed at diminishing Wright’s reputation.» Wright has been filing lawsuits for the past several years. Since 2016, Wright has been claiming that he created bitcoin and in 2008, under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, wrote the first book about cryptocurrency (the so-called White Paper), which is why the controversial entrepreneur considers it necessary to «defend the honor of bitcoin and its founder in the courts.»
In early May, Craig Wright Coinbase-ta-kraken-u-torgivli-falshyvym-bitkoyinom/">filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Kraken for trading «fake bitcoin.» Wright’s representatives stated that these and other exchanges encourage traders to trade bitcoin by pretending it is another digital asset. According to the lawyers, the cryptocurrency known as BTC is actually just the «bitcoin core» and the only cryptocurrency that has fully implemented the bitcoin protocol should be BSV (Bitcoin Satoshi Vision).
