Former Goldman Sachs CEO Raul Pal compared the pace of Internet adoption in the early years of its existence to the introduction of cryptocurrencies in 2016, when the number of users first reached one million.

Raul Pal is confident that the number of digital asset users may well exceed 4 billion. According to Pal’s calculations, the Internet has become the fastest growing technology. The number of users grew by about 76% per year, and then, 8 years after its appearance, by 43% per year.

«Cryptocurrencies are growing 137% a year ,» Pal said. In the 8 years since the number of Internet users reached 1 million, the number of new users has increased to 187 million. The number of cryptocurrency investors increased to 516 million from 2016 to 2024.

The crypto enthusiast suggested that by the end of 2025, $ 1.1 billion people will own cryptocurrencies, and at the beginning of the new decade, this number will grow to four billion users. This is half of the world’s population.

In March, Raul Pal suggested that bitcoin’s target price for the near future is $ 250,000 per coin. In his opinion, the first cryptocurrency may surpass the forecasted level due to the high demand for spot bitcoin ETFs.
