The belongings of the first cryptocurrency owner who died will be distributed to his fans
The wife of the first recipient of a bitcoin transaction, programmer Hal Finney, who died 8 years ago, has announced the upcoming charity half marathon Running Bitcoin. Fran Finney aims to honor the memory of her husband and help people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is the disease Finney suffered from.
«Running Bitcoin will take place from January 1 to 10. To raise as much money as possible to help ALS patients, Fran Finney has promised to donate Hal’s personal belongings to the 25 largest sponsors. In addition, everyone who donates more than $ 100 to Running Bitcoin will receive a T-shirt as a gift. «We are determined to finally find a cure for this disease, and all your support will be vital,» Fran Finney emphasized.
It was from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis that the prominent theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, who died in 2018, suffered. Hal Finney was diagnosed in 2009, and 5 years later, the programmer died of complications caused by the disease.
The developer’s widow noted that the organizers of the half marathon would be happy to receive every dollar. Fran also urged to spread the announcement so that people could learn more about the disease.
Earlier this month, Fran Finney reactivated her late husband’s account. As the widow explained, she does not want Hal’s Twitter page to be blocked or deleted. «I will be posting tweets from Hal’s account to avoid Elon Musk deleting his account,» the woman explained on December 16.
Also, in early December, Finney’s name appeared in the «Villain of the Year» investigation by By Martin Shkreli, who outlined his guesses as to who might be the developer of the VTS. In the Substack mailing list with the headline: «Paul Le Roux to Satoshi,» Shkreli shared a screenshot with the bitcoin address «1Q2TWHE3GMdB6BZKafqwxXtWAWgFt5Jvm3» — the address where Satoshi Nakamoto sent 10 BTC on January 12, 2009 to Hal Finney. The transaction contained the following signature: «This transfer was made by Paul Le Roux for Hal Finney on January 12, 2009». Accordingly, Le Roux can be considered Satoshi Nakamoto.
