The year when miners will mine the last bitcoin in history is revealed
Bitcoin’s developer, Сатоші Накамото" href="https://noworries.media/biography/satoshi-nakamoto/" data-bio-id="4232">Satoshi Nakamoto, has set a hard limit of 21 million bitcoins that will never be exceeded. To date, more than 19 million bitcoins have been mined, leaving only a few million for the miners of the future.
Bitcoin miners earn money in two ways: new block rewards and transaction fees.
With each new block added to the bitcoin blockchain, miners receive a reward of 6.25 bitcoins. This reward decreases approximately every four years in an event known as «halving».
According to the current schedule, the last bitcoin will be mined by 2140. After that point, the only source of income for miners will be transaction fees.
Bitcoin enthusiasts believe that as the network grows and the number of users increases, commission revenues will increase, compensating for the lack of block rewards.
