Bitcoin cryptocurrency developer says he is leaving the project for unclear reasons

1:14 pm, January 30, 2023

One of the bitcoin developers considered to be Сатоші Накамото" href="https://noworries.media/biography/satoshi-nakamoto/" data-bio-id="4232">Satoshi Nakamoto's successor has announced his own resignation. According to Jeremy Rubin, he is temporarily leaving his position as a VTC developer and suspending all his projects to improve the blockchain.

Interestingly, Rubin did not name the reasons for his «sabbatical» or explain what he plans to do next. There is little information about the developer, even his Twitter account is hidden by privacy settings.

It should be noted that the developers of the flagship cryptocurrency are essentially volunteers who sometimes receive charitable donations from bitcoin whales. However, these donations are insufficient compared to the salaries of other crypto industry professionals. Therefore, the desire of developers to take so-called sabbaticals is quite understandable.

As for the projects Rubin is currently leading: Judica (DAO constructor) and Sapio (a new programming language for BTC). The developer is also working on creating new transaction codes for the use of bitcoin storages.

It is known that some of his projects will be put on hold until Rubin returns (if at all). Some of Jeremy’s developments will be handled by his colleagues, and Rubin promised to help them remotely. As the developer emphasized, he will not «work secretly» under other pseudonyms and does not plan to participate in other bitcoin-related projects.

Recently, Rubin has been actively promoting the idea of the BIP-119 standard, a protocol that optimizes transactions between multiple senders and recipients, preventing network congestion. However, many developers do not consider the implementation of BIP-119 to be urgent, and some openly criticize Rubin’s ideas, such as Adam Beck, Matt Corallo, and Eric Lombroso. Analysts have suggested that it was the rejection by colleagues that could have influenced the developer’s decision to resign.

Interestingly, at the end of August, the main Bitcoin developer, Vladimir van der Laan, one of the few people in the world who had access to Bitcoin Core, the main «place» of Bitcoin protocol development, announced his resignation. As Laan explained at the time, he was tired of the constant attention of the cryptocurrency community and criticism for any mistakes. The developer denied rumors about his activities in other cryptocurrency projects.
