The developer of one of the first tokens will make national cryptocurrencies anonymous
David Chaum, an American computer scientist, cryptographer, inventor, and developer of the anonymous cryptographic electronic money eCash, created in 1983 (long before bitcoin), is working with the Swiss National Bank to launch a project of a confidential national cryptocurrency.
According to Chaum, his Tourbillon technology (eCash 2.0) will ensure anonymity and quantum invulnerability of CBDC. The system is scalable because it «uses an architecture compatible with, but not based on, distributed Ledger technology.» Chaum’s concept avoids compromises between cyber resistance, scalability, and privacy.
The eCash developer is convinced that the United States and Europe will definitely face a choice when launching CBDC: «Do we preserve the right to privacy that distinguishes our democratic society based on human rights? Or will we have the same CBDC system as China?»
David Chaum emphasized that eCash 2.0 is a payment system with built-in privacy and phishing protection. The developer plans to prove that CBDC can ensure user privacy and help the US and European governments once again demonstrate the differences between the democratic society of the West and the totalitarianism of the East.
