Fortnite developers have created a programming language for virtual universes

Epic Games has developed its own language for programming metaverse. The authors named the development Verse. According to experts, the program will allow programmers to interact in virtual reality online while programming a joint product.

The new development is expected to support CEO Tim Sweeney’s vision of the metaverse. He sees the new technology as an open economy with rules, but without a «corporate overlord».

Epic Games has long been interested in participating in the development of metaverse. In the fall, the company invested in Hadean, a British startup of metaverse infrastructure. The project helps developers scale the code base to support software that requires significant computing power.

Verse will be available to programmers as well as creative professionals such as designers and artists. Thus, one of the largest participants in the gaming industry will accelerate the transition from Web2 to Web3, as products such as Unreal Engine have long changed the face of gaming technology.
