Cardano cryptocurrency developers to use blockchain technology to check wine quality

10:35 am, September 16, 2022

Representatives of the Cardano Foundation have announced cooperation with the National Wine Agency of Georgia — Cardano developers will use blockchain technology to check the quality of Georgian wine.

As it became known, the Cardano Foundation will work on creating a «creative and cost-effective» wine certification system so that both producers and buyers can track their production and quality. The ADA developers will work on the project together with the Swiss packaging company Scantrust.

The pilot program will include 100,000 bottles of wine that will be bottled in the Georgian village of Bolnisi in the spring. According to the authors of the idea, wine connoisseurs will be able to check the quality and date of production of each bottle by scanning a unique QR code. This is the first such cooperation of the Cardano Foundation, but ADA representatives are confident that the project will be successful.

Perhaps, several bottles of wine from the National Wine Agency of Georgia will be put up for sale on the BlockBar NFT marketplace of elite alcoholic beverages. At the end of July, BlockBar representatives announced that a rare Japanese whiskey made in 1970 would be auctioned off, with the price starting at $ 75,000. The Last Masterpiece 1970 whiskey was produced in Japan at the Karuizawa distillery, which ceased operations in 2011.
