Minecraft developers will not integrate NFT into the game

The Minecraft development team has announced that it will not integrate blockchain technologies into the game and will not launch NFTs.

According to a post on the official Minecraft website, the game’s representatives are against the use of non-fungible tokens on the platform and will not integrate them into the game in the near future. The developers emphasized that NFTs are prohibited in Minecraft client and server programs in order not to create an artificial shortage of digital assets — all because non-fungible tokens do not correspond to their «value system».

Earlier, Minecraft developers created a petition calling on their colleagues from other studios to carefully introduce cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens into video games. However, this call did not find support among other members of the gaming community. Minecraft’s position is supported in absentia by indie developer Mark Venturelli, who recently made an angry speech about non-fungible tokens at the NFT festival in Brazil.
