Rumors about Microsoft’s development of a cryptocurrency wallet for Xbox appear online

Microsoft recently faced a massive data leak. The leaked documents contained information about the corporation’s plans to create crypto wallets for Xbox.

In particular, it refers to Microsoft’s roadmap for the past year. It was in May 2022 that the corporation announced its intention to add support for cryptocurrencies. The details of the plan remained undisclosed. «It's hard to see our team’s work discussed in this way because so much has changed,» Xbox CEO Phil Spencer wrote on his X page.

Spencer also emphasized that the corporation already has new «exciting» ideas and plans for the future. In addition, the Xbox CEO added that the team will «share real plans as soon as they are ready.» The crypto community reacted to the news with enthusiasm. However, such data remains only a rumor, as Microsoft has not confirmed the integration plans.

A large Microsoft data leak also revealed the release date of the new Xbox. As it turned out, in 2024, Microsoft will not only release a new Xbox Series X model, but also improve its current-generation console, the Xbox Series S. The Xbox Series X Refresh model, codenamed Brooklyn, is scheduled for release in October next year. That is, around the time when the PlayStation 5 Pro is rumored to be released. Xbox Series S will also be updated and released at the end of August next year.

All the data was published on the GitHub repository. Readers of the GitHub repository received instructions to download the AI model from the Microsoft Azure Storage URL. However, Wiz discovered that this URL was configured to grant permissions to the entire Microsoft storage account. This resulted in the mistaken leak of private data.
