Cryptocurrency website Tether is massively attacked by DDoS attacks

June 19, 2022 · 10:50 pm 1 min read

Tether’s CTO Paolo Ardoino announced the threats of an attack on the stablecoin’s website from hackers. According to him, the attackers demanded a ransom from the company to avoid massive DDoS attacks, but the team took the necessary measures to prevent possible pressure on the system and maintain the 1:1 USDT to US dollar parity.

The hackers decided to fulfill their promise by launching a series of DDoS attacks. «This morning, Tether was demanded to pay a ransom to avoid massive DDoS attacks. They tried to do this once before. We usually have about 2000 requests in 5 minutes. The attack brought the figure to 8 million requests per 5 minutes,» Ardoino wrote.

Tether did not specify who exactly organized the DDOS attack on the site and why.
