Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared exactly 12 years ago
It was on this day, December 12, 12 years ago, that Сатоші Накамото" href="https://noworries.media/biography/satoshi-nakamoto/" data-bio-id="4232">Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of the flagship cryptocurrency bitcoin, wrote his last post on the bitcointalk.org forum. Since then, no one has seen or heard from Nakamoto. It is also still unclear whether the person behind the BTC founder’s image is a single person or a group of developers, and it is not clear whether Nakamoto is even alive.
In his last message to the cryptocurrency community, Satoshi Nakamoto said that he plans to do other things and wants to move on to a new project, but the programmer did not specify which project he was talking about. Many users are still trying to figure out what caused Nakamoto’s disappearance, but no one knows the truth.
There is a version that the forum post was not Nakamoto’s last message. Before he finally disappeared, on April 23, 2011, the Bitcoin creator wrote an email to one of the key developers of the BTC core, Mike Hiron. However, there is no evidence that it was Satoshi who wrote this email.
Before his disappearance, Nakamoto claimed to be Japanese, born on April 5, 1975. However, he was very fluent in English, so many believed him to be a resident of an English-speaking country.
Interestingly, Satoshi Nakamoto has not spent a single bitcoin since 2009. There is no exact data on how much BTC is in the developer’s accounts, but according to rough estimates, it is about 1 million bitcoins (approximately $ 17 billion at the time of writing).
The flagship cryptocurrency was created on October 31, 2008, when Satoshi Nakamoto published a white paper entitled «Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Money System.» In the white paper, the Bitcoin developer described how the peer-to-peer payment system works. It is worth noting that Satoshi Nakamoto did not invent blockchain technology, but he did develop the first decentralized currency based on it.
While members of the crypto community are trying to solve the mystery of Satoshi’s disappearance, Australian scientist Craig Wright continues to prove to everyone around him that he created bitcoin, but no one believes Wright. Earlier, the pseudo-father of bitcoin said that he had destroyed the disk with the keys to Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet, the world’s first cryptocurrency wallet, on his own. The Bitcoin Wright «confessed» that he had trampled on the hard drive with the keys to Satoshi’s wallet. «If I hadn’t done it, people would have forced me to do things I didn’t want to do,» Wright allegedly explained his actions in a cryptic manner.
