Security experts predicted an increase in losses from cryptocurrency fraud with deepfakes to a record $ 25 billion
Deepfakes created with the help of artificial intelligence are becoming a growing threat in the field of cryptocurrency fraud. According to a new study by Bitget, losses from such frauds could reach a record $ 25 billion by 2024.
Deepfake technology allows fraudsters to create realistic fake videos that influence people’s financial decisions. They use fake speeches of famous people to manipulate and profit. Losses from such operations have already reached $ 79.1 billion since 2022.
The market currently does not have sufficient measures to prevent these threats. The use of advanced technologies, such as deep learning and generative adversarial networks (GANs), allows fraudsters to create very convincing counterfeits.
The study pays special attention to the impact of dipfakes on the cryptocurrency market. Fraudsters use fake videos to manipulate the market and make fake investments. For example, fake speeches can instantly increase the attractiveness of tokens, allowing fraudsters to make significant profits.
International cooperation and improved regulatory frameworks are needed to combat this threat. Without effective measures, the losses from fraudulent speech fraud will continue to grow, creating new risks for cryptocurrency users.
