Scammers use Twitter to steal Dogecoin cryptocurrency
On their official Twitter account, the developers of the Dogecoin meme token warned their customers that they do not have an official «support team.»
The announcement was made amidst the intensification of fake Twitter profiles created before 2012 (Dogecoin simply did not exist then). Fake profiles introduce themselves as the cryptocurrency’s support team and then try to find out the wallet’s passphrase.
Dogecoin’s official account emphasizes that users should never share their passphrases or account information, which is almost the basic rule of owning any cryptocurrency.
As a reminder, another meme coin, BabyDoge, was recently accused of scamming.
