Today, the Ethereum network is entering the home stretch of the transition to the «green» blockchain
Today, the Ethereum network will host the Bellatrix hard fork, the last step for Ethereum developers before the largest blockchain update.
As Ethereum lead developer Tim Bako wrote on his Twitter page, the Bellatrix hardfork is the last opportunity for users to make sure their PoS validators are configured correctly before the main network transition. The transition of Ethereum to the PoS network is expected to reduce energy consumption by 99%.
Bellatrix is tomorrow 📆 Last chance to upgrade your node if you haven’t yet!

According to Ethnodes, almost 73% of ETH nodes are ready to switch to the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm. As it became known yesterday, The Merge will take place on September 15, 02:17:03, by which time 100% of Ethereum nodes should be ready for the update.
Interestingly, the developers of Ethereum have postponed the date of ETH’s transition to PoS several times. At first, Tim Bako called September 19 the day when the merger would take place. Later, it became known about September 15 or 16, and at the end of August, developer Marius Van Der Weyden named September 14 as the exact date of The Merge. Obviously, users should continue to follow the information from ETN officials in case of further changes.
