Solana has been down for almost two days
It has been reported that yesterday Solana validators were preparing a second restart attempt, which they hoped would restore service to blockchain users.
By the evening of New York time, the validators who manage Solana’s infrastructure had already concluded that the best way to fix the blockchain’s problems was to restart and fork.
The first attempt was aborted when the validators realized that they had chosen the wrong moment to restart, which further extended the delay.
The problems, which began last night with slow transaction processing, escalated to an almost complete shutdown of activity on Solana, validators and developers told CoinDesk. Production of chain blocks has stopped, and transactions are not being processed or validated.
For blockchain users, this means that they cannot dispose of their assets. Interestingly, the network was switching to an updated version shortly before the problems began.
At the time the Coindesk article was published, validators working with developers from Solana Labs were trying to restart the blockchain again.
